Wamp Design Fair: 'Sustainable Designs', Millenáris Budapest, This Sunday
On Sunday 20th March designers from the eco-conscious fashion and design scene will be introduced at the latest WAMP design fair. In addition to the eco-friendly theme, a high number of fashion designers, jewellers, and designers will debut their brand new spring collections, and a wide section of local gastro products will be on display as well.

Organisers told XpatLoop.com:

"With the start of spring WAMP launches its first fair with more than hundred designers. This edition will concentrate on sustainability and eco-design, and beyond the already familiar brands of WAMP, this time visitors can also choose from a range of environmental friendly and ethically produced small scale garment collections, recycled jewellery and accessories, home decor products, biocosmetics and domestic organic food.

For the joy of many TOMS shoes will also take part at the March WAMP. The brand which is available in Hungary since 2014, is one of the most important actors of the socially responsible, ethical fashion. The American traveller, Blake Mycoskies founded TOMS in 2006 after his journey to Argentina, where he found that many of the children living in depriving conditions do not even have shoes to wear.

According to the One for One model of the brand after each TOMS shoes sold the company delivers one pair of shoes to a child in need. Even in the starting year of the brand 10 000 pair of shoes were distributed and in the last 10 years 45 million children received a shoes this way worldwide, always through local helping organizations.

The super comfortable TOMS shoes will be available in a wide variety of colours, patterns and design at the fair. Furthermore with the joint Facebook game of TOMS and WAMP, participants will also have the chance to win a pair of TOMS shoes.

In March WAMP will also get an eco-conscious decoration. At this occasion Millenáris will be decorated with a special, environmental friendly installation which has been created in the studio of a fresh new brand, Binpile.

Binpile is a new interior design product which targets both domestic and corporate clients. Its hallmark is that its recycled timber modular elements can work in a multitude of ways, the modules are easily compiled and disassembled, they can be extended and are extremely durable.

The WAMP information desk and the decoration of the exhibition hall will be constructed from Binpile elements for this fair.

The Designer of the month in March is Edina László’s brand Lazlo. Edina is indeed a special member of the Hungarian fashion scene. Her brand represents a holistic approach and the slow trends are not far away from it either. Edina works exclusively with natural materials, she refuses to use any harmful dyeing components even for the patterns of her clothes.

As the choice of material and the applied technology are determined by environmental conscious thinking, she considers her employees and suppliers in an equally responsible way. She believes that designers have a huge responsibility whether in environmental or in social issues. Her new collection Phosphene will debut at the 20 March WAMP fair.

This time WAMP will have two special guests, the students of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME) and the student businesses of Alternatív Közgazdasági Gimnázium (Alternative Secondary School of Economics- AKG). The graduates of the applied design department of MOME will showcase beautiful ceramics, functional-, decoration-, and gift products will be all part of the selection. In the entrepreneurship program of AKG three teams will present their works. The works of the students will debut at WAMP, and all products will be on sale for visitors.

The fair will host a charity collection organised together with the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta to support deprived families and children living in the temporary home of the organization in Zugló. Visitors can support the charity with used clothes, toys, home appliances that are in a good condition.

The donations can be handed to the volunteers at the information desk of WAMP at the entry of the fair from 10 am till 6 pm. The organization will also exhibit at WAMP, they will offer ceramics and teas made by disabled children, and the income from these products will support the Order of Malta."
