Government Eyes Free Wi-Fi hotspots In Hungary
The Hungarian government is working on a plan to install free Wi-Fi hotspots in every Hungarian community by the second half of 2018, The National Development Ministry (NFM) told Hungarian economic daily Világgazdaság today.

After completing a survey of existing hotspots at state and local government institutions, the ministry said it is planning to put at least one indoor and one outdoor hotspot with free Wi-Fi access in every community, the daily reported. The plan is part of an effort to bring broadband internet to all Hungarian homes by 2018, the paper added.

Approximately 883,000 homes in Hungary still have no broadband access, but some HUF 68 billion in European Union grant money and HUF 10 bln in credit has been made available to support the expansion, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
