Police Investigating MNB Secrecy
Fifth District police are investigating suspected abuse of public data by the MNB, based on a report by private citizen István Tényi, Világgazdaság reports. A letter to Tényi from the prosecutors of the Fifth and 13th District informs him that the investigation was launched on February 29. Tényi reported his suspicions to prosecutors on January 23.

The MNB’s Pallas foundations said they are not aware of any investigation into their affairs, adding that they have not been approached by police nor prosecutors.

A court ruled on December 8, 2015 that the MNB foundations had to give requested information to a Világgazdaság journalist, but the data was provided only on February 10, 2016.
