Amnesty Concerned About Anti-Terrorism Changes Restricting Human Rights
Hungary’s constitutional and legal changes aimed at enabling the government to take anti-terrorism measures could also lead to a broad range of restrictions in terms of human rights, Amnesty International (AI) said in a statement on Wednesday.

In its statement, the human rights group said that though some of the problematic stipulations have been dropped from the draft, its latest version is “still based on a vague and too broad concept of a terrorist threat”.

The lack of a precise definition of such a state is “especially worrying”, the statement said.

AI also said that the package, offering too broad an interpretation for its implementation, and creating an opportunity for abuse or arbitrary measures, was not in line with international human rights regulations.
