Széll Kálmán Tér Opened To Public
The renovated Széll Kálmán tér, the former Moszkva tér, was formally reopened yesterday after 400 days of construction work, and three months after the initial deadline of February. The square, the busiest hub in Budapest, was completely rebuilt at a cost of Ft 5.5 billion of city, government and EU funds.

The previous metro station building was dismantled and replaced with a modern glass-walled structure.

Commercial functions have been transferred to a new service building, while the bus stations, tram stops and the roads bordering the square were also transformed.

A total of 182 saplings were planted and the site now features more than 700 square metres of grass.

However, the lift, escalator and customer centre are not yet in service at the station, as not all necessary permits have been obtained.
