Two office complexes and a university building were emptied and closed down after a WWII bomb weighing several hundred kilos was found in southern Budapest on Monday morning, a communications officer of the armed forces said. The device was unearthed during field work at the site of the Info Park near the Danube on the Buda side, Edina Baty told MTI.
The area has been cordoned off and traffic has been restricted, she said, adding that explosives experts had begun work at the scene.
Authorities closed down Rákoczi bridge and the embankment section on the Buda side at 12.30pm. Public transport has been directed to alternate routes, Budapest transport centre BKK said.
