Hungary’s Foreign Minister Szijjártó: European Way Of Life Must Be Preserved
Events of the past weeks and months clearly show that the European way of life has to be preserved, the foreign minister said. “Earlier, we took security for granted in Europe and safety was the last aspect to take into consideration, since we took it as a given,” Péter Szijjártó.

“Now this is unfortunately a thing of the past.”

It is not only Europe and European people that must be protected but a European way of life, too, he said, adding that it is now the task of politicians to focus on security.

The armed attack in Munich on Friday was the first occasion that a Hungarian citizen has been among the fatalities of a terrorist attack in Europe, he noted.

The 15-year-old had lived in Munich for the past ten years and went to school there, he said, adding that the Hungarian government would do all it can to help out the family of the victim.
