Cabinet Assigns Police To Churches In Hungary
- 8 Aug 2016 9:00 AM
The cabinet has placed churches in Hungary under police protection as a result of the recent murder of a priest in France by followers of the Islamic State. The Interior Ministry said police presence will be stepped up during masses and other religious services.
In response, the Democratic Coalition said the cabinet is doing its best to instil fear ahead of the October 2 referendum on migrants.
The deployment of the police serves that goal, the party said, even though the cabinet has not reported any specific threat.
