Hungary Contributes Water, Food, Experts To Macedonia Flood Relief Efforts
Hungary has sent multiple types of aid to Macedonia to assist relief efforts in that country as it struggles to clean up after heavy floods unleashed by a severe storm last week, the foreign ministry said. The Hungarian embassy in Skopje has offered 1,000 litres of bottled water to the capital’s floodhit Gazi Baba municipality.

Hungary has also offered to contribute a group leader and a coordination expert to the team of EU experts Macedonia has requested through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.

The foreign ministry said it is sending a further 1.5 million forints (EUR 4,800) worth of aid which will include disinfectants. That package will arrive in Macedonia together with the food offered by Budapest’s 20th district, the ministry said.

Macedonia declared a state of emergency in Skopje and its surrounding districts last week after a heavy storm and ensuing floods killed at least 22 people, including toddlers, and injured more than 70 others.
