- 16 Aug 2016 9:00 AM
A world champion kayaker, who was caught in the Budapest shopping mall Arena Plaza on Friday attempting to remove a pricetag from an article of clothing valued at Ft 80,000, told RTL Klub that what he did was ill-considered and motivated by wrath. He said that he and his girlfriend had been insulted in the store and that he is going through a difficult period in his life.
Híradó and other media said it is the same athlete, Miklós Dudas, who was removed from the Olympic squad shortly before the start of the games because of suspected doping.
The kayak-canoe federation offered no statement.
