CBA Franchise Partner In Trouble
CBA Kereskedelmi has annulled the franchise agreement with Palóc Nagykereskedelmi, which coordinated the operation of some 80 CBA stores in six eastern counties, the Hungarian-owned retailer announced. The parties have held unsuccessful rounds of talks.

CBA has asked its franchise partner not to use its logo and design elements.

A report by index.hu hinted that CBA’s franchise partner is near bankruptcy as its operating losses widened to Ft 1.7 billion last year and the company had outstanding debts to both suppliers and employees. Furthermore, shops faced serious shortages of goods, they added.

Palóc Nagykereskedelmi said that shops will reopen next week after its inventory control on Thursday.

In a statement issued to the state news agency, CBA said that it has no plans to buy or run the 80 stores operated by its troubled franchise partner.
