The expanded facilities have added an extra 326 places taking the total capacity up to 1050 places. The new wing provides 24 new classrooms, a new library and Sixth Form Centre. Furthermore, an information, technology and communications room, coding room, two additional state-of-the-art science laboratories, and an art, design and technology centre will facilitate the school’s future collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths).
Several music practice rooms have also been added to complement the school’s new performing arts collaboration with The Juilliard School New York. The school has also added a modern and spacious reception area with an easily accessible admissions office and a parent coffee shop.
In addition, many of the primary classrooms in the current building have been renovated so that younger students can benefit from the campus upgrades. The school will also have a new modern indoor sports hall along with an outside pitch added to the existing sports facilities which will be completed by the spring of 2017.
Richard Dyer, Principal of The British International School, Budapest said, “We are very excited to provide new facilities to our students, teachers and staff. These new additions will enrich the learning experience—particularly with our Juilliard and MIT collaborations. It is our wish that all our students can achieve more and thrive in an inspiring environment.”
The school is one of the leading international schools in Budapest serving children from ages 3-18. The school’s curriculum and culture encourage an international perspective and academic excellence so that students can thrive in a globally connected future.
