3 Very Scary Halloween Events In Budapest
- 28 Oct 2016 1:04 AM
This year a ‘Halloween Food Truck Party’ will be held during the last 3 days of October in the garden at Gundel, near Budapest’s city park.
To work up an appetite for that you could take part in a special Halloween run this Saturday in the underground tunnel system below Kőbánya, in Budapest’s 10th district.
Or if you prefer you could choose to help other people eat by attending the ‘Budapest Charity Pumpkin Festival’ at Heroes' Square.
1. Gundel Restaurant invites us all to its scary special, writing in English, “On the biggest feast of the homeland of rolling gastronomy we await you not ‘just’ with exceptional delicacy, but programs for children, street musicians and party at nights.” Sounds spooky!
We found out the event will feature Halloween face paintings, a ‘Horror-tent’, and a Halloween Costume Contest. Live music is promised every day from 10am-6pm, with DJs playing after 6pm.
The entry fee is HUF 500 for adults, and includes one glass of Mulled Wine, entry is free for children under 14 years old. The participating food trucks include: Gundel Creperie • Meat&Sauce • Kanálgép • Kolbice • Telecipó• Low-Cost • Húsvasaló • Piknik Utczabár • Paneer • Pola-Pola • Mexkitchen • Furgon Eszpresszó. The address is 1146 Budapest, Gundel K. út 4.
2. For anyone interested in the uniquely scary Halloween underground run, the first race starts at 2pm on Saturday 29 October, and the address is Budapest, X. Rottenbiller Park, Előd u. 1. For more info check out the related video above and/or visit bbu.hu
3. The Halloween Charity Pumpkin Festival in Pest is in aid of the local Child Nutrition Foundation (Gyermekétkeztetési Alapítvány), and the organisers write at toklampasfesztival.hu, “This is not just a pumpkin festival. We ask all attendants to bring 1-3 cans or any non-perishable food. All the food donated will be given to children who need it.”
"Meeting at Heroes Square at 19:00. Attendants bring their own homemade halloween pumpkins. At 21:00 everybody goes home quietly." Really?! They also say, “Please bring your own pumpkin, we don't want you to be pumpkinless! (Pumpkin is a synonym for balls in Hungarian)” Yipes, really?!?! :)
Anyway Happy Halloween Everyone!
