Mayors Urged To Challenge Juncker Over Migrant Quotas
The head of the Association of County Seats (MJVSZ) has urged Hungarian mayors to turn directly to the president of the European Commission over the European Union’s migrant quota scheme.

Károly Szita of ruling Fidesz, who is also the mayor of Kaposvár in south-western Hungary, told a press conference that he will send a letter to Jean-Claude Juncker asking the EC president to “listen to Hungarians” and focus the commission’s efforts on protecting the EU’s borders rather than distributing migrants across the bloc.

Szita said that over the next few days he will reach out to Hungary’s mayors asking them to sign the letter. Plans are to send the letter to Juncker in mid-November, he added.
