Szijjártó: Hungary Expects ‘More Effective’ Political Cooperation With US
The Hungarian government is planning to build a “more balanced and effective political cooperation based on mutual respect” with the United States, the foreign minister told the public media. Péter Szijjártó hailed Donald Trump’s election victory and a Republican majority in the US Senate as “positive developments”.

Business ties and defence cooperation with the US have been excellent, but political relations tended to be “chilly and unbalanced”, Szijjártó said, adding that the government’s goal was to rebuild those ties.
