Info Session Budapest CEU Business School, 27 April
- 18 Apr 2017 2:34 AM
This event will feature a special presentation by Professor Adam Zawadowski, Assistant Professor at the CEU Department of Economics: "Are derivatives still financial weapons of mass destruction?"
Warren Buffett famously called over-the-counter derivatives "financial weapons of mass destruction” in 2002. During the 2007-08 Financial Crisis, they indeed caused the failure of AIG and thus contributed to the financial meltdown.
Since then, derivatives have been heavily regulated and mostly forced onto clearinghouses.
Are derivatives now safe or are we about to experience an even larger meltdown this time caused by the clearinghouses?
