PM's Brother Called by MPs to Clarify Role in 'Uncle Zsolti' Case
Opposition Fidesz deputies Miklos Panyi and Janos Pocs on Wednesday called on Marton Magyar, the prime minister's brother, and Andras Litresits, the solicitor of a witness in the "Szolo Street abuse scandal", to clarify "their roles in the Uncle Zsolti case".

Panyi told a press conference held in front of Litresits's offices in Budapest that Litresits had been "instrumental" in linking Sandor Bango, a former resident of the Szolo Street youth correction facility, and Magyar, the founder of media outlet Kontroll.

"Litresits was aware that Bango had been offered money to make a false testimony," he insisted.

Pocs said Litresits should answer "many crucial questions" and "take legal responsibility". The deputy earlier accused Magyar of bribing Bango to give an interview to Kontroll, a charge both Magyar and Bango have rejected.

In the contested interview, Bango mentioned a politician referred to as "Uncle Zsolti" who sexually abused young residents at the Szolo Street facility.

Menawhile, Szolo Street institution's former acting director released from detention – portal

A Budapest court has lifted the detention of Karoly Kovacs-Buna, the former acting director of the Szolo Street youth offender institution, news portal 24.hu said on Tuesday.

The Buda Central District Court confirmed the decision, issued on June 11, and replaced detention with house arrest and a restraining order until Oct 11.

The portal noted that Kovacs-Buna is still referred to as a suspect, indicating that no formal charges have yet been filed.

The Central Chief Prosecution Office of Investigation (KNYF) confirmed there are still 11 suspects in the case, with four currently in detention.

Kovacs-Buna resigned as the youth offender institution's acting director early last December after footage emerged appearing to show him using violence against children at the facility. He was later taken into police custody.
