Fidesz Official Rejects Critical Remarks By Timmermans
Balázs Hidvéghi, communications director of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party, dismissed recent remarks by Frans Timmermans, first vice-president of the European Commission, saying it was “embarrassing” that European leaders “launch accusations” against Hungary while denying that “they have been implementing [US billionaire] George Soros’s harmful immigration plans”.

Hungary “must firmly counter those ill-advised political endeavours”, Hidvéghi said.

On the topic of the government’s billboard advertising campaign depicting Soros, the Fidesz official said the government had bought outdoor space until the middle of July and the timing of the removal of those adverts depended on the company contracted and not the government.
