LMP Warns Of Gov’t Plan To Weaken Secondary Grammar Schools
- 10 Jul 2017 8:56 AM
Speaking at a press conference, LMP lawmaker István Ikotity cited comments made by government office chief János Lázár last year suggesting that the government could make centralised entrance exams compulsory for grammar schools.
Ikotty also referred to a recent response his party had received from the Human Resources Ministry to an enquiry about education: the ministry did not deny reports of plans to cut the number of students grammar schools can admit.
Ikotity said such measures would be unacceptable, arguing that Hungarian youth now make plans to move abroad for their studies as early as their teenage years. He encouraged voters to protest against the government’s reduction of the quality of education.
