Jordan’s Senate Visits Hungary

At the talks, Orbán assured his guest of Hungary’s readiness to promote ties between the two countries, as well as cooperation between Jordan and the EU.
The Jordanian official met House Speaker László Kövér, who expressed Hungary’s appreciation for Jordan’s “stability, stance against extremism and terrorism, and the sacrifices the country has taken”.
According to a parliament press office statement, Kövér shared Jordan’s position that global terrorism should be combatted by forming a broad coalition and adopting a comprehensive approach. Concerning the victims of conflicts in the Middle East, Kövér said that refugees should be taken care of in safe countries nearest to their homelands.
He urged international cooperation, and spoke highly of Jordan, which has provided shelter to 1.3 Syrians. Hungary has urged at all forums that international aid to Jordan should be increased, Kövér added. Faisal Al-Fayez voiced his country’s commitment to fighting terrorism. Concerning bilateral ties, he encouraged the Hungarian business community to use cooperation opportunities in Jordan’s tourism, transport, and energy sectors.
