Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Szijjártó Summons Kostelancik

Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó summoned U.S. chargé d’affaires David J. Kostelancik after the US State Department expressed its intention to support independent local media outside Budapest, RTL Klub has learnt.
The State Department has earmarked $700,000 for this purpose in 2018.
The Hungarian government perceives this an attempt to interfere in domestic politics, as there will be general elections next year, RTL said.
The money will be available only after the elections, the Foreign Department commented to RTL.
