2021 Deadline For Electronic Tax Filings
Hungary could save some Ft 700 billion, or 2% of the GDP, if it switched to electronic tax declarations, Economy Minister Mihály Varga said after the meeting of the National Competition Council.

It has set the target of 2021 for the launch of electronic tax returns, Napi writes.

Last year the government established the National Competitiveness Council constituting of business leaders and experts, to come up with proposals to improve Hungary’s competitiveness.

At Thursday’s session experts discussed the Slovenian and Estonian models which have switched to digital tax filing.

In three or four years, Hungarian citizens should be able to do all their filing from home electronically, but this requires connecting the database of various state bodies and offices.

Companies could also file their taxes digitally by 2021, he added.
