Nikoletta Szőke: 'Merry Christmas, Baby!', Müpa Tent, 22 December
Hungary got to know Nikoletta Szőke in 2005, when she won the singing competition held as part of the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her career has been arcing steadily upwards ever since, with her new album, Moonglow, appearing this autumn.

Born into a family of musicians in Zalaegerszeg, the jazz singer has been - principally through her cimbalom-player father - surrounded by music all her life.

Her talent quickly revealed itself, but she only developed an interest in jazz and singing after graduating from high school.

A year after her victory at Montreux, she returned to the festival, this time as a performer, while racking up one triumph after the other back home too, including winning the Dezső Lakatos Ablakos Jazz Scholarship and the Junior Prima Award.

Since 2012, she has been a teacher at the Snétberger Musical Talent Center.

With her Christmas programme in the Müpa Tent, she will be escorting the audience through a true "Winter Wonderland”.

Featured will be the most beloved holiday jazz classics, like Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is Coming to Town, as well as musical interludes from hit Christmas films like When Christmas Comes to Town, familiar from Polar Express, not to mention a few brand-new novelty pieces that she herself has written for the occasion.

Date and time: 22 December 2017, Friday, 8 pm — 10 pm, Müpa Tent

Ticket prices: HUF 1500
