Hungary is the 15th safest country in the world “thanks to efforts by the government, parliament and the police,” Sandor Pinter, the interior minister, said on Friday.

Hungary is the 15th safest country in the world “thanks to efforts by the government, parliament and the police,” Sandor Pinter, the interior minister, said on Friday.

At a ceremony inaugurating 570 new vehicles for the riot police, Pinter said the number of crimes committed in the country had decreased from 430,000 to 215,000 during the past two government cycles.

He added that “everything can be done a little better” and the government was working to make sure that Hungary occupies the very top of the global safety rankings in the future.
