LMP Group To Work For 'Renewing Hungarian Politics'
The opposition LMP’s parliamentary group will work in Hungary’s new assembly as an “alliance for renewing Hungarian politics”, the party’s group leader said on Tuesday, after the inaugural session of parliament.

LMP, which secured 8 seats in the assembly in last month’s general election, will work towards ensuring that “a new opposition could successfully enforce their fundamental values” over the next four years, Bernadett Szél (pictured on top) told a press conference.

The LMP group will include three former local government deputies, a former mayor and two politicians entering parliament on an individual mandate, she said. Szél said the party will address local issues representing the countryside, adding that LMP would “not shy away” from addressing issues outside the assembly in public in the streets.

Two members of the LMP group held up an EU and a Hungarian flag at the press conference which Szél commented as saying that it symbolised the group’s commitment towards the EU and Hungary as a nation which they see as an integral part of the European community.
