Hungary To Buy “Whale” From Budapest
The city of Budapest will sell the Bálna (“Whale”) building in the Ninth District on the Danube riverside to state asset manager MNV for Ft 11.2 billion plus Ft 3 billion VAT, HVG reports.

The proposal is on the agenda of Wednesday’s city council meeting.

Then cabinet minister János Lázár promised in late 2017 that the building would be transferred to state tourism promotion agency MTÜ, the weekly recalls.

The rental contracts of Bálna tenants - the New Budapest Gallery, a market and the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre - end on June 30 at the latest.

The city found no takers for the renovated historic warehouse building in 2017 when it offered the facility for sale at Ft 11 billion.
