Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has effectively issued a death threat against Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister, declared at a public forum on Thursday in Sopron. "But Hungary cannot be blackmailed, no matter what threats are made," he said, adding that Zelensky had gone "beyond all limits".
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has had talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, the PM’s communications department told MTI on Tuesday. Orbán and Putin discussed the situations in the Middle East and in Ukraine, as well as the availability of oil and gas supplies crucial for Hungary’s energy security, the statement said.
Speaking to Europe Today, Poland's top diplomat accused Budapest of escalating its blockade of a €90bn Ukraine loan and Russia sanctions package, warning that Europe must act decisively as US support falters.
Hungary has once again taken a divergent path in European diplomacy, with PM Orbán accepting an invitation to participate in a Trump's “Board of Peace” initiative.
