Indian 'Dance Drama', Budapest, 29 January
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Amrita Sher-Gil, we would like to invite you for a special 'dance drama' by Sivasakti Kalananda Dance Theatre led by Panni Somi at 18.00 in Auditorium of ASCC on 29 January, 2019.

During the event we will showcase an exhibition on Amrita’s life exhibited in the corridor.

In the beginning of the event Dr Katalin Keserü, art historian and expert on Amrita Sher-Gil will speak a few words about the painter followed by the dance drama 'AMRITA'.

Amrita Sher- Gil was born in Budapest in 1913 as the child of a Hungarian mother and an Indian father. She was one of the most interesting, mysterious and tragic artists of the first half of the 20th century. Her painting is a fusion of Indian and European art.

In this ballet the turmoil of colours, passions and cultures, dreams and memories pay a dancing tribute to this extraordinary artist.

The piece on Amrita is not biographical but tries to look behind the works of art of the painter through the atmosphere and topic of her paintings.
