Fewer Young Teachers In Hungarian Schools, More Children Segregated
The corps of Hungary’s schoolteachers is ageing, while more children are segregated in state schools, according to a report by the Academy of Sciences.

The study found that the proportion of teachers aged 50-59 increased from 27% in 2008 to 35% in 2018, while those older than 60 years of age rose from 2% of the total to 9%.

The proportion of teachers younger than 30 dropped from 9% to 6%, those aged 30-39 from 27% to 18%.

The study also found that the number of disadvantaged children – mostly Roma – who were taught in segregated schools rose by more than 10% between 2008 and 2018.
