Coronavirus: Mayors May Not Impose Curfews In Hungary
Only the cabinet has the power to impose curfews or restrictions on leaving homes, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement on Wednesday.

The mayors of the towns of Polgár in Hajdú county and Sződliget in Pest county have imposed partial restrictions on the movement of local inhabitants in recent days, Magyar Nemzet notes.

During an emergency, mayors exercise the powers of the local council, but this does not provide a legal basis for mayors to impose curfews or restrictions on movement, the PMO stressed.
