Coronavirus: Hungarians Urged To Leave Italy
The Hungarian embassy in Rome is asking Hungarians staying in Italy to leave the country at the earliest possible date, if they can.

However, the consulate cannot extend any assistance in organising their travel, the embassy said in a statement on its Facebook page.

Due to the recent cancellations of flights in and out of Italy, Hungarians wishing to travel should gather information from airlines’ websites or call customer services, it added.

The embassy warned that Italian authorities are checking all traffic on motorways but said there are no restrictions on returning to one’s home country.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced on Monday evening that the whole of Italy is in lockdown because of the coronavirus from March 10.

The restriction means that people may only travel within or outside Italy in urgent situations.
