Hungarian Opinion: Soros Calls PM Orbán A 'Dictator'
A pro-government commentator suspects that George Soros and other critics of the Hungarian government want to divert attention from Hungary’s successful battle with the coronavirus.

In Magyar Demokrata, Péter Bándy accuses George Soros of trying to downplay the Hungarian government’s achievements in containing the coronavirus epidemic by suggesting that Hungary has become a dictatorship.

In an interview with Project Syndicate, a left-of centre international media organisation George Soros said that ‘Viktor Orban has already used the Covid-19 emergency and a captured parliament to appoint himself dictator’.

Bándy thinks that George Soros as well as other liberal detractors of the government in Hungary and beyond want to divert attention from Hungary’s the positive performance in tackling the coronavirus emergency.

The pro-government commentator predicts that opponents will continue to accuse the Hungarian government of violating democratic norms.
