Covid Update: 123,691 Active Cases 179 New Deaths In Hungary
5,653 new cases were confirmed. The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Hungary now stands at 480,860. The number of deaths stands at 16,325 while the number of those recovered now stands at 340, 844.

123,691 is the number of active infected, 8,348 patients are hospitalized, 844 of them are on ventilators.  Vaccination is ongoing, with 1,107,791 people already vaccinated, of which 317,906 have already received their second vaccination.

We are in the ascending branch of the third wave of the epidemic, with an increasing number of active infected and hospitalized patients, which is why the government has decided to tighten the restrictions that came into effect on Monday.

The vaccination program is going well, on schedule, Hungary is already second in the EU vaccination ranking. Most GPs will take over the AstraZeneca vaccine from today, and it is their job to vaccinate registered elderly people who have not yet been vaccinated in their practice. Hospital vaccination sites have Sputnik and Pfizer vaccines, which will also continue to vaccinate registered seniors submitted primarily by GPs.

Vaccination of chronic patients under the age of 60 postponed last weekend with AstraZeneca will be available at hospital vaccination points between Thursday and Sunday, and those affected have already received the call via SMS.

The third wave of the coronavirus epidemic across Europe is proving stronger than ever. Due to the drastically rising number of patients, the government has decided to tighten the restrictions, which came into effect on Monday. It must now be closed so that the country can reopen as soon as possible.

The additional protection measures that took effect in the two weeks from March 8 to March 22 are as follows:

Wearing a mask is mandatory on all streets and public areas within the residential area.

If possible, keep a protective distance of at least 1.5 meters from the other person.

Work is possible, but where possible, we recommend working from home. In the state administration, work from home can be ordered, except for those who contribute to the defense.

The evening curfew is still in force between 8pm and 5am. One case of exemption from the curfew is work, which, however, needs to be justified. Sample certificate can be downloaded here.
