'Day Of Friendship' Between Hungarian & Polish Peoples Marked by Budapest & Warsaw Mayors
The mayors of Budapest and Warsaw marked the day of friendship between the Hungarian and Polish peoples in a statement.

Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony published the statement, signed with his Polish counterpart Rafal Trzaskowski, on Facebook.

“Poles and Hungarians demonstrated not only their mutual affection and brotherhood but their courage and self-sacrifice to help and protect each other on many an occasion during hard times in their history,” the statement said.

“This is a friendship we have treasured and appreciated,” the two mayors wrote.

They noted their commitment to strengthening ties at the level of the two capitals and making “joint efforts to build free local democracies and cooperate to ensure better municipal access to European funding”.
