Watch: Chain Bridge Budapest - The Witness Of History

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge was designed by English engineer William Tierney Clark and built by Scottish engineer Adam Clark, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary. It was opened in 1849.
The pavement on the bridge is closed so that the contractor can prepare the work, tests and surveys without interruption.
Public transport is free between Clark Ádám tér and Széchenyi István tér, the Buda and Pest ends of the bridge.
The Chain Bridge remains open to vehicular traffic until mid-June 2021.
According to plans, cars will be able to cross the bridge again by December 2022.
