National Dance House Festival, Hungary 1 - 4 July
The National Hungarian Dance House Festival is both a showcase and meeting place for folk musicians, folk dancers and folk artists from all over the Carpathian Basin, Moldavia and anywhere else in the world where Hungarians live.

It is the opportunity for folks who simply enjoy dance house events, professional folk performers, groups of children and/or adults, folk music schools and tradition preserving folk artists to gather and celebrate Hungarian folk culture and the culture of other ethnic groups living in the region.

In Budapest the Dance House Festival starts on Thursday evening at Uránia Theatre  with Juhász Réka’s CD-release concert.

At 10 pm organisers invite everyone to Budapest Park  for an open-air dance house with Magyarpalatka Banda and Tázló Ensemble.

Friday afternoon the events continue at the Fonó , starting with world music concerts by Bognár Szilvia Sextet, Babcsán Projekt and Dresch Vonós Quartet.

There will be a dance house following the concerts with music by Erdőfű Band.

On Saturday and Sunday morning families can enjoy concerts, interactive programmes and handicraft workshops for children. In the afternoon of both days there will be dance teaching and concerts in two different spaces at the Fonó.

On Saturday evening, OTP Bank’s 'Táncház-award' will be presented followed by gala concert by young Transylvanian folk musicians and then a dance house until 2 am.

On Saturday there will a program honoring the memory of Transylvanian folk artist and traditional dancer Karsai Zsigmond featuring dancers, singers and well-known personalities from the táncház movement.

The festival closes on Sunday evening with a Mezőség dance house played by the musicians from Magyarpalatka (Transylvania).

This closing event will be streamed live.

Dances of other ethnic groups from this region (Serbian, Croatian, Bulgarian) will be taught on Friday at the Bulgarian Cultural Center.
