New Asteroids Named After Famous Hungarians

Hungarian astronomers have named 16 recently discovered asteroids after famous Hungarians, including poet Endre Ady, writer and philosopher Béla Hamvas, mathematician Pál Erdős, poet Margit Kaffka, renowned physiotherapist Anna Dévény, and swimmer Katinka Hosszú - pictured above.
The Astronomy and Earth Sciences Research Centre points out that naming asteroids is an old tradition, for which the discoverer has the right to choose a name.
As 200 years ago, the tradition lives on, even when hundreds of thousands of celestial bodies are found by automatic telescopes.
