Bosch Exhibition: 'Between Hell & Paradise', Museum of Fine Arts Budapest
On until 17 July. Nearly half of 15th-century artist Hieronymus Bosch’s surviving oeuvre, ten paintings and several drawings, will be on display at a three-month exhibition that opens on Saturday at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Museum director László Baán said on a press conference that it appeared to be a mission impossible when they began to organise the exhibition ten years ago.

Only the world’s largest museums dare plan a Bosch exhibition, he said, institutions that have one or two works of the Netherlandish artist.

Only about 20 paintings and the same number of his drawings have survived and this is why it is a huge achievement that nearly half of his life’s work has been brought to Budapest, said Baán.

This exhibition entitled Heaven and Hell – the Mysterious World of Hieronymus Bosch, one of the largest Bosch exhibitions in the world in the past 50 years, will be open until July 17.
