Huge Fine for 5 Passengers Smuggling Cigarettes on Same Flight to Budapest

Agents from the National Tax and Customs Office (NAV) impounded 1,343 cartons of cigarettes at Liszt Ferenc International Airport from five passengers travelling on the same flight, the Office told state news agency MTI on Tuesday.
The five arriving from Abu Dhabi entered the country in the green corridor, and did not declare the cigarettes.
Customs guards checked their luggage and found 1,343 cartons of cigarettes, far in excess of the permitted 200 cigarettes per person.
The NAV imposed a Ft 38.5 million fine and seized the cigarettes.
