State Health Insurance in Hungary to Cost More - New Details Explained

If a person loses his or her job, the health insurance policy paid by the employer is valid for an additional 45 days.

If a person is not covered and his or her payment duty exceeds six times the monthly amount, then he or she has to pay for state health care services.

In this case, the state health fund will invalidate the person’s social security identification number. It can be made valid again from the day after the payment of the debt at the earliest.

Anyone who is unable to pay the contribution by the deadline due to reasonable income, wealth or social circumstances can request a payment discount, payment in instalments, or a deferment from the NAV.

Persons living abroad who have healthcare insurance there will be exempt from the duty to pay such fees in Hungary, if they report this situation to the authorities.
