Multi-Billion Forint Railway Bridge Project in Budapest Gets Go-Ahead
The government has approved the start of a HUF 31bn project to upgrade the Gubacsi railway bridge in the south of the capital, Transportation and Investment Minister David Vitezy said in a post on Facebook on Wednesday.

Vitezy noted that 10-15pc of all rail cargo in Hungary travels over the bridge.

Because of its dilapidated condition, a 5km/hour speed limit has been in force on the bridge since 2014, he added.

A new bridge will be constructed in the old one's place from the end of 2026 and the bottleneck in Hungary's railway network will be eliminated by end 2029, he said.
