Orbán has refused to supply weapons to Ukraine, unlike many other EU countries, and has been critical of EU sanctions on Moscow.
The Hungarian Prime Minister has strongly criticised the idea of compulsory EU-wide military conscription - Orban dismissed the conscription proposal as "insane" and a "crazy idea".

Hungary will stay out of “NATO’s insane action” despite all pressure on the country, the foreign minister said, adding that “it will however be a long fight, in which the upcoming EP election, when people can express their opinion on war or peace, will be an important point”.
