The government has decided to extend discounts big supermarkets must offer regularly on a number of food products until the end of June 2024, the economic development ministry said.
The government’s monitoring of the compliance of retailers with rules on offering consumers regular discounts on food produce in a range of categories showed that around 10% of shops violated rules, government spokeswoman Alexandra Szentkirályi told a government press briefing.
Aldi made a big step in the ranking of Hungarian retail chains last year and managed to lure many customers away from other discounters besides hypermarkets and supermarkets, portfolio.hu financial portal reports.
