Hundreds of Thousands to Attend Holy Mass by Pope Francis in Budapest
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the mass to be officiated by Pope Francis on Kossuth tér on April 30 Cardinal Péter Erdő told state news agency MTI.

He said 20,000 seats can be provided on the square, but hundreds of thousands of people can participate in the mass by standing on the square and in neighbouring streets.

"We await the faithful and pilgrims from here and beyond," said the cardinal, who expressed hope that the papal mass would reach a wider audience.

On the second day of the papal visit, on the evening of Saturday, April 29, Pope Francis will meet 15,000 young people in the Papp László Sports Arena.

Erdő said the number of participants will be limited at the pontiff’s meetings in the St. István Basilica and the St. Erzsébet church on Rózsák tér, due to the capacity of the churches, but the events will be shown on large screens outside the churches.

The public will have an opportunity to greet him personally in some form when the pope leaves the church, even if it will not be possible to talk to him personally, the cardinal added.
