Oscar-Winner Spotted at Budapest Student Protest
Currently on location in Budapest, Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne was spotted at a student demonstration marching towards the Ministry of Interior.

Protesting to improve teachers’ pay and conditions, the students had gathered at Oktogon and were just as surprised to see the UK star as he was, stumbling into the peaceful gathering.

At one point, he stopped for a selfie with one of the students.

Redmayne, who won an Oscar for ‘The Theory of Everything’ in 2015, is here to film a series adaptation of the spy thriller, ‘The Day of the Jackal’.

The Westminster-born actor is portraying the lead character, an assassin based on the notorious terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, aka Carlos, who lived on Budapest’s Vend utca in the 1980s.

The series is being shot in Hungary, Austria, Croatia and London.

The protest was organised by the ADOM Student Movement, the Civil Education Platform and the Democratic Trade Union of Teachers, PDSZ.

Later, representatives of Hungarian Mothers and each group gave speeches in front of the ministry building.
