Heat Alert Issued in Hungary Until Friday
- 21 Jun 2023 10:04 AM
The highest daytime temperatures are likely to be between 29 and 35 degrees Celsius, and excessive UV-B radiation is expected, surpassing the warning criteria.
According to a joint statement by the National Public Health Center and the National Directorate General for Disaster Management of the Ministry of Interior: prolonged heat strains the healthy body, but children, the elderly, and individuals with cardiovascular diseases are particularly vulnerable.
According to their recommendation, during the heatwave - especially between 11 am and 3 pm - everyone should stay in cool places if possible, avoid physically demanding activities, and they also suggest taking multiple lukewarm showers daily.
The body requires a greater amount of water than usual in hot weather, so it is important to pay extra attention to fluid intake.
The National Meteorological Service warns of excessive UV-B radiation, with the UV index exceeding 7 throughout the country on Wednesday.
