Wizz Air Becomes First European Airline to Take Chinese-Made Airbus
No-frills airline Wizz Air became the first European airline to take delivery of an Airbus A321neo produced in China, the Budapest-based company said.

Wizz Air is financing the purchase with a lease from the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

According to aircraft-tracking websites, the aeroplane made in Tianjin completed its first test flight on June 9.

The aircraft will be the airline’s 92nd Airbus A321neo, bringing the share of "neo" models in its fleet to more than 50%.

Compared to the previous model, the A321neo demonstrates a nearly 50% reduction in noise levels, a 30% decrease in fuel consumption, and a substantial 50% cut in carbon dioxide emissions.

Wizz Air has 181 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft in its fleet at present and it has the largest order in Europe for the flagship model of the European aircraft manufacturer.

Wizz Air plans to add a further 355 aircraft to its fleet by the end of the decade under its ‘WIZZ500 growth strategy and ambitious sustainability commitment’.
