Kocsis said that well-known terrorist organizations such as ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Hamas were already present on the Serbian-Hungarian border. He added that more and more information about terrorist acts targeting Europe was being generated in the region.

Kocsis also said the Taliban are also present in Vojvodina, and that many people smugglers were related to Afghan Taliban government leaders and members of the Haqqani terrorist group linked to them. He said that acts of violence and the use of weapons had become regular occurrences at the border.

“We must act against terrorism by all means! The EU must support Hungarian border protection! We need a new migration policy in Brussels!” said Kocsis, who also shared the link to the secret service report.

Kovács: Natl Consultation Survey Will Again Address Issue of Migration

The government’s next National Consultation survey to be launched in the near future will again address the issue of migration, Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary for government communications and international relations said.

The EU’s approach to illegal migration has not changed since 2015 while the issue has become particularly topical now “when a new migration package has been pushed through and adopted in Brussels” despite the fact that arranging the movement of migrants is now in the hands of radical groups…,” Kovács said in a video posted on Facebook.

The new migration pact includes renewed provisions on the migrant redistribution mechanism proposed earlier and provisions on new procedures, he said. New rules would involve having to receive illegal migrants before an assessment is conducted on their asylum request, he added.

“This would lead to the emergence of migrant ghettos at places where such ghettos have never existed before, something that we have consistently rejected,” Kovács said, reiterating the government’s position that “illegal migrants must not be allowed to enter Hungary”, but “they must be stopped at the border”.

“We need very tight, clear-cut and rigorous border control to prevent people from entering European territory without getting checked first,” he added and asked Hungarians to tell their opinion on the matter in the survey.

Defmin: 'Adaptive Hussars 23' Countrywide NATO Military Exercise to Be Held Throughout Nov

The Hungarian Armed Forces will perform a multinational military exercise dubbed “Adaptive Hussars 23” with the participation of NATO forces in the country’s entire territory between November 2-26, the defence minister said.

The exercise is aimed at testing Hungary’s defence capabilities and strengthening cooperation with public administration at a time when “we live in an era of threats posed to Europe by illegal migration and terrorism”, the defence ministry quoted Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky, the minister, as saying.

During the time of the exercise, an increased traffic of military vehicles can be expected in public roads, the ministry said, advising Hungarians to drive more carefully and thanking them and the public for their patience.

Hungary's N7, Italy's Beretta Sign MoU on Ammo Production

Hungary’s N7 Nemzeti Védelmi Ipari Innovation Holding has signed a memorandum of understanding with Italian arms manufacturer Beretta on ammunition production in Hungary, the defence ministry said on Thursday.

The MoU covers the production of 7.62mm and 12.7mm ammunition for the Lynx and Gidrán combat vehicles, respectively, the ministry cited Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky as saying.

With both types of vehicles now being manufactured in Hungary, the ammunition needed for them will also soon be made here, the minister said.

Demand for both types of ammunition is high amid the current security situation, but their domestic production will be able to increase the security of their supply, Szalay-Bobrovniczky said.

Hungary will also be able to produce them for export in the long run, thereby bolstering the economy, he added.

Turkish Combat Vehicle Production MoU Signed

Turkish defence company Nurol Makina and N7 Nemzeti Védelmi Ipari Innovation Holding signed on Tuesday an MoU on a joint venture to manufacture Gidrán combat vehicles.

The companies’ chief executives Engin Ufuk Aykol and László Palkovics, respectively, signed the deal in the presence of Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, the Hungarian defence minister, in the ministry building.

The deal involves production and assembly as well as research and development in Hungary, the ministry said in a statement.

Szalay-Bobrovniczky noted efforts under way to revamp the Hungarian armed forces, saying that this must be achieved in a way that insulates Hungary from supplier risks. Hungary views Türkiye as a strategic partner in this, he said.

So far the assembly of the Gidrán combat vehicle has taken place in Kaposvár, and now the entire vehicle itself will also be manufactured in Győr, in western Hungary, at the Rába manufacturing site.

This, he added, was “a huge step forward” because of the export potential as well as satisfying domestic needs.

At least 200 new jobs will be created thanks to the deal, he said, adding that a broad network of domestic suppliers will also be involved.
