Watch: Hungary Threatens to Block EU Aid for Ukraine, Veto Membership

Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán said Thursday that a state-run consultation had given him a “strong mandate” to oppose Ukraine’s accession to the European Union during the EU summit in Brussels. As the closest EU ally of Russia, the nationalist leader has repeatedly raised objections and placed hurdles in the way of Kyiv’s efforts to join the 27-member bloc.
In a television interview on Monday, Prime Minister Viktor Orban called Budapest Pride at the weekend "not pride, but prejudice".
Ukrainian President Voldomyr Zelensky wants a different Hungarian government, while Brussels is preparing "secret service actions against Hungary", Tamas Menczer, the Fidesz-Christian Democrat parties' communications director, said in a post on Facebook.
The European Commission "has serious concerns" about the rule of law situation in Hungary, EU Commissioner for Democracy Michael McGrath said in Brussels.
