Winter Activities:
Visegrádi Bobsleigh
Bobsleigh is one of the most exciting activities in Visegrád – also available in winter! The summer bobsleigh is only available in dry weather, but the alpine bobsleigh is worth a try even in rainy weather (a cover is mounted on the bobsleigh then).
The Zsitvay-Lookout Tower, on top of Nagy-Villám Mountain, is only a 5-minute walk from the bobsled track. It is also open in winter.
(The length of the slide is 700 m (app. 0.4 miles), it takes approximately 5-6 minutes to get down the 10-12 exciting winds. The difference in level is 35 m (app. 115 feet), so on the 250 m (820 feet) lift you can do the countdown to the fascinating slide.)
Skiing and snowboard in the Danube bend
If you like skiing, you must already have your favourite place in the Danube bend to try your most spectacular feats. Dedicated fans of skiing and snowboard will certainly not lament on the arrival of cold weather, which is an enviable trait.
The Nagyvillám Ski Resort has been there for ski-lovers for a long time.
Apátkúti Valley and the Bertényi Miklós Arboretum
Taking a walk in the Valley of tha Apátkúti Stream feels like time has stopped. In the proximity of the valley’s natural assets you will probably wonder why you hadn’t been there yet, or why you do not come more often.
You will fall in love with the fish pond, the Ördögmalom Waterfall (Devil’s Mill Waterfall), the rocks by the dried up Magda Spring, the Telgárthy Meadow and the Kaán Spring, regardless of the season.
Just like the Royal Palace, the Citadel is also open in winter. In the fortress overlooking Visegrád from a height of 333 metres (app. 1100 feet), you can see the medieval history of the weapons, wax works and an exhibition showing the history of the Citadel.
With smaller children or with dogs, Sibrik Hill, Saint Michael’s Forest Chapel, the Viktorin Promenade and the Fekete Mountain (Black Mountain) Circular Promenade might be great options.
